100 pages into the book I would have rated this one as a five, but the farther I read, the more the setting nagged at me. We are too close to Saddan Hussein's Iraq for this to work. It would have been a much better book if it had taken place in a fictional construct, which would have been an easy thing to do. In addidtion, some scsenes were so implausible that they sabotaged an otherwise good story. I had a lot of difficulty with the American prison segment, and I do not think that a kidnapped Presidential candidate would have been taken to a common Iraqi prison. The killing of the terrorist leader has the sameweakness. The action scenes were very good,characters like Bauer were well written, and the dialogue was above average, but to compare this with an early Tom Clancy is stretching it. Clancy had a much more sophisticated grasp on international tensions. His early works were among his best. I do expect Kelter's next novel to be better, and he a promising writer, so I will no doubt buy it. I suspect most unsolictied reviewers who are not as addicted as I am to this sub-genre would rate this a sturdy four.Product details

This needed to be more developed and have a little more complexity, but I can see where this auther is headed in a good direction.
This is the first book by Lawrence Kelter that I've read and I really enjoyed it. I'll be looking for more of his books.
Kelter just keeps getting better and better.I can not wait for his next book!!!!

The author is very creative in all of his books. The story keeps you guessing & on the edge of your seat.
Fast-paced; held my interest through rout. A great leisure / beach read! Surprise twist at the end. Highly recommended--you won't be sorry.
The issue contained in this story is very realistic. The imminent danger is maintained throughout increasing the readers involvement until the very end.
It was a great action packed novel like all of Kelter's books with several twists and fit right into the world of politics in the way they are protrayed in the book, as to they really are in real life in this country.
